A MakerSpace for Makers
A makerspace is a place in which people with shared interests in creative arts and technology can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge.
At SiGNAL we have two small makerspaces designed to allow people to come together to work on creative and technical projects and make use of machinery they would not be able to afford individually.
We are in the process of purchasing some very cool equipment, including an Arduino, a raspberry pi, a 3d printer, a laser cutter and a drawing and planning area. There is also a classroom style space for creative teaching.
Why MakerSpace in Bordon?
We are big fans of the maker movement and believe that creativity should be encouraged in everyone. By creating an environment where people can come to turn ideas into things, we hope to give rise to a number of new maker startups that will play a part in shaping the new local economy of Whitehill and Bordon.
In 2020 SiGNAL moves to its new town centre location, The Makers Market. Our hope is that many new maker businesses – food, crafts and technology, will form as a result of this makerspace and collaborative workspace, and the resultant enterprises will soon be selling their wares on the market stalls and in the retail areas of the new build.
At SiGNAL we run a series of Makers Seminars – visit our event page to find out what’s coming up next
